Default constant using of bio ethanol

Greetings from Ukraine.
Going to buy this used Mustang
I hope you can help me: will the constant using of bio ethanol effect on this Mustang’s engine? I mean, wouldn’t it be bad for a car? The Authorized Ford Centers in Ukraine has no answer. The Ukrainian Ford forums also haven’t got a clue. So, I rely on your experience and knowledge.
Many thanks for any help.

First of all, welcome to GH.

Maybe I'm missing a few things, but what % Ethanol are you talking about for the fuel? E10, E20, E85, E100?

I doubt there's any difference to the engine on the ethanol source, just the Ethanol/Petrol blend amount.

Unless the vehicle is a Flex Fuel (It would probably have a yellow petrol cap), you are all right using up to E30 as I recall, though E10 or E20 is certainly better for it. (I'm almost 100% sure that the Mustang was never one anyway, but that's just for the US that I know of.)

If you're just asking about the Ethanol, then no, the source or such little content in the fuel is harmless. If you want to put E85 or E100 in a vehicle that's not a flex fuel vehicle and set to run on standard petrol, then no, it's detrimental to the engine and the vehicle.

If I missed the point or question completely, sorry.

They sell here E50. So i decided not to take risks and continue to buy gas. Lots of sources says E30 or higher to be dangerous to the engine.

What are the costs of E50 and regular gas in Germany? I am very curious.

Ethanol in the U.S. can cost 10% or 50% less, depending on what part of the nation you live in.

If ethanol is a much lower cost for you, put in 50% of your tank with regular gas, then top off with E50. The result would be E25 which should work fine.

Good luck.

50% less!?! Wow. Here it's usually only a dime or so cheaper than regular gas on average.

Some stations in the "mid-west" that were owned by farmer co-op were selling E85 for $1.99 when gas was about $3.

I think E85 is slowly creeping up now that gas is OVER $3 but still about $2.49 to $2.59.
