Demographics
I'm sure there are other demographics of interest. I picked these based on the masters degree and California thread.

Re: Demographics
I had a hard time deciding my reason for buying. But it came down to the fact that if I was not going to get the high mpg I would not have bought the a hybrid. I'm glad to be cleaner and be supporting the new technology, but I would not have made the purchase without the $$$'s saved on gas.

Re: Demographics
Adapting early technology that saves fuel in a car is part of the enviromental for me with the added benefit of a low emissions rating. I also couldn't pick one. So Enviromental was the best. I will save over 600 gallons a year in fuel compared to the vehicle I would have purchased personally, that helps a lot, even if each person in the u.s. alone only saved a gallon a week, that would save over 10,000,000,000 gallons of gas a year. if they saved at my level it could be over 150,000,000,000 gallons per year!!! ... to me that has a major enviromental impact alone. The ULEV and PZEV cars are cleaning the air in our smog communities. The technology is something that is helping advance this greatly, and we are only in the infancy of it. I do like to show it off a little and brag about getting 55+ mpg to others. I don't see any negative aspects of owning a hybrid vehicle.

Re: Demographics
Having turned 56 last month, I've adopted the highest available age range. At least two other hybrid drivers in Huntsville are older than me.

Re: Demographics
Yeah, I guess 45-55 will actually be 45+; I know several folks on here who are over 55.
As for most, the toughest was main reason for purchase. I, too, bought my hybrids because of ALL of the stated reasons, combined. But trying to be brutally honest, I realized that I could have bought other cars with very good fuel economy, but didn't, so that couldn't have been the reason. I also appreciate what my cars are doing to help the environment, but if that were the only benefit, I probably wouldn't have bought them. What it came down to for me was a combination of "early tech" and "status", and since I've never before bought any car because of "status", I decided that it was the cool tech (and what adopting it early did for my status) that actually led me to buy them.

I did not mean to dismiss the over 55 group. But that is what happens when you post at midnight!

Hey, since you are still driving your current car, are you documenting what you are getting now so you can give a real wrold comparison when you get your car?

Re: Demographics
I woke up one day (Which-Is-A-Good-Thing) and the was Shinning and I had this Great idea. I think I'll dump this 93 Octane Gas Eating Rocket and get back into what ? I know a Hybrid. So it immediately put a on my face, and even my showed with the idea of getting rid of the Gas drinking 93 Octane Eating Monster. I was a little to be still driving that gas drinking monster and thought , well just up your mouth and be an for once and do the right thing. I was so happy with this decision that it brought to my eyes almost. Sad kinda to see the 350 H.P. 6-Sp. all wheel drive go, but this Idea had me smiling with good things in my heart and being the now it has made me I have not looked back, on those old ways . I think I have seen the Light on a New and better Future, and my old wasteful days are soon to be behind me .
Sunny Days Ahead;
Terry
