Every other tank or so I still do a quick calculation and in mixed driving I'm still averaging about 20mpg. That's about 70/30 highway/city, semi-agressive acceleration and driving style, especially when merging onto the freeway. The best I ever got in my Element was 23.5mpg on a trip to Pismo Beach, and the worst was around 16 on a trip the the American River when the car was loaded full of passengers and gear (since we left after 11pm we cruised at about 85mph on the way up).

Once I get the HCH2 I plan on keeping better records since I already created a spreadsheet for fuel economy and imported it into my PocketPC Phone!

I checked early tech adapter, but that really should have been environmental... I'm kind of an early tech adapter in some areas (I got rid of my photo ipod on ebay and got a video Ipod when they came out; I have a MacBook Pro on order) but not in others: I have a conventional non HDTV rather than LCD or Plasma TV. Then again, I don't have cable or dish anymore, so I never watch TV, so that explains that. I bought the hybrid to vote for the technology, so that more cars become more fuel efficient.

i'm a sucker when it comes to efficiency, just the thought of only wasting time and not wasting gas when you actually don't need it won me over.

.

i got around 20 km a liter when i drove a civic 5 spd using advanced hypermiler techniques
and now I drive a salvage nwh20 prius that gets almost to 25 km/l with 195,000 km to date.

The poll minimum/maximum age range [35-]/[45+] reminded me of a thread on another hybrid web site last year: what was the age of the youngest/oldest hybrid buyer. I believe there were several responses from buyers in their upper 80s. And youngest was 16 [with parent co-sign loan].
