Default Detroit Electric Autos

It's coming back to life! The nearly 101 year history of Detroit Electric will reappear in 2009. You can even put money down for a 2009 vehicle. It is all here: http://www.detroit-electric.com/index.htm

The sports car seen on this link will have a 0-60 miles per hour time of 4.8 seconds! It will have a top speed of 155 miles per hour! It will travel 335 miles before requiring a rapid charge of 15 mintues! If this is true, then it can't be long after that other auto companies will be forced to offer plug-in vehicles to stay competitive.

Then again, Detroit Electric has not produce a vehicle yet for sale in this country.

Thanks for the link.

Not sure why they call it "Detroit" electric, when it's built 4,000 miles away.
Guess that free prison/peasant labor will keep the cost down.

All things considered, I would take a look at this if it came available. I would have my reserves about a car "Made in China"

I'm also in the dark about why a company not based in Michigan is calling themselves Detroit Electric.

Though it looks like all they've got is a CGI render of their car, no actual product yet. To be on the Market by 2009 seems rather unreasonable.

One might be leery of placing a cash deposit on an unknown product that might never be built.
