fuel cell or hydrogen is the worst thing ever

It will take 100s of NUKE plants to produce the electricy to produce the hydrogen and if made from petro emissions from the producing plants will offset the water out the tail pipes on those fuel cell cars.

There are bigger problems than autos when it comes to emission output like electric plants, and various industrial producers.

should be interesting how well a hybrid battery does after it sits in a land fill??? hummmm

Oh I think a hybrid is a nice idea even if they are slow. My TDI isn't all that fast but 40s+ in MPG makes up for it.

Hybrid batteries are not toxic and are recyclable.
Compare this to the trillions of carbon, alkaline and other batteries already buried?

I'm not sure of the slow, my HCH CVT does 0-60 in about 10 seconds. Besides, the car is designed around fuel efficiency, which is not found in a sprint.
The last time I had it floored was durring my acceleration testing back in Feb of '04.
Last week I broke my MPG record and parked @ 69.8MPG. Today I parked at my usual 63. Currently my tank average is 59 point something.

Efficient drivers do it better.

10 secs LOL like to see that in person. maybe going down a 6% grade with a full battery then maybe.

anything over 7 secs isn't considered fast

Ok, let's milk it for all it's worth.
I can do about 10 seconds on a flat level road.
Most articles I've read quote 10 seconds as being good.

A 900-cell three-stage catalytic converter and a lean burn-compatible absorption-type NOx catalytic converter will help the Civic Hybrid achieve an expected Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) rating.

I bet that sure helps lower emissions can't wait till low sulfur or Biodiesel is avil. so diesels can join in the clean fun

Hi Iboomalot:

___You seem to be missing some points. Many SI-ICE’s fall to the next lower level of emissions with LS gasoline and it will be arriving nationwide just as ULSD arrives. Your diesel unfortunately will not fall a level other then lesser SOx emissions as it does not include any after treatment of merit to take advantage of LS fuels. It is not the fuel itself in the case of diesels, it is the ability to use after treatment with low sulfur fuel that will help diesels just barely match Tier II/Bin 5 if in fact they do.

___Good Luck

Default "Clean Power" diesels

xcel,

I'd like a comment from you on Toyotas latest diesel technology, what they call "Clean Power":

"To be introduced at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March, the 2.2-liter Clean Power engine offers 130 kW (175 hp) of power and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, while producing levels of NOx and PM emissions that are respectively around 50% and 80% below Euro-4 standards. "

See mileage data for my 00 Prius.
See my environmental performance (still in swedish only, feel free to ask).
