I will not drive illegally. I will not put myself and others in danger.
It's been mentioned in past posts that there is a range of acceptable speeds - what that is depends on whether the posted limit is 65, 35, etc.....an officer would say the same thing. Also, state laws vary - that's been discussed in this thread too. You're non-specific responses are as if driving on a freeway is like a two lane country farm road - "one size fits all". Acceptable freeway driving is different than acceptable driving on other roads. Things calmed down in this thread once people explained things better. It would be nice if this thread moved forward, not backwards in a loop.

It's not your view as much as your response can be interpreted (or misinterpreted) in many different ways.

You've read way too much into my response. You've made assumptions, and imposed your beliefs on my own. Yave fun with YOUR discussion from here on out.

Asking "what do you mean?" does not deserve this much bait, nor is it imposing beliefs.

I wanted to discuss - not argue.

coal? they rarely even burn coal on railfan excursion trips! virtually all is diesel-powered, even the steam engines! (which i love)...

but you ain't gonna get railroads all over the country without annoying lots of people who don't want the noise in "their back yards." and they won't sell the land to you either.

the best bet is a balance of all forms of transport, using each where it's most effective and cost-competitive.

of course, as we've seen in the U S of A for years, nobody wants to go into any business that the government doesn't pay them to get into. so, for now, it's hard to tell which are cost-effective at all.... (one of MY hot buttons, obviously...)
