Default An Equal Test For Hypermiling?

I already found an old thread on this, but it's in the Prius thread and I feel like making a new one.

Recently I got Gran Turismo 4, for the Playstation 2, which features, surprisingly, the Toyota Prius. Getting behind the wheel, one has access to the power display, current MPGs, and how much fuel they've used in gallons. One can also upgrade the vehicle, upping it's HP, changing the tires, lowering the weight, etc.

Now, I'll freely admit, I'm a cheater. I use Action Replay to modify the game, specifically, I turn off the AI at will, which means I'm free to drive the courses without having to race, which makes for a fun drive in the quiet Prius.

Not to mention an interesting challenge, perhaps for fun one day at hybridfest or some other event, to see just who can use the least amount of fuel, in an equal environment. Or, to actually race a hybrid, not worry about FE, and let it go, just for fun.

Slightly askew, given the high number of concept cars, I'm looking forward to seeing if the next version has the Ford Reflex.

I wonder if it's accurate enough to let you pulse & glide?

lol too bad i sold my GT4, but back then there was a demo version where the game ASKS you to drive for FE. Obviously the higher the better! The game was used to sponsor the 2nd gen prius which at the time just came out.

on the other hand if they finally release GT for the PSP maybe we can duke it out on WIFI! although its a shame they didn't include the IMA system as well...

.

i got around 20 km a liter when i drove a civic 5 spd using advanced hypermiler techniques
and now I drive a salvage nwh20 prius that gets almost to 25 km/l with 192,000 km to date.
