Default Forget hypermiling... it's HOT out there!

OMG it's HOT!

I just started a new tank this morning, and so far it's off to a relatively bad start... It's 105 degrees currently in Austin, so rather than die, I decided to run my A/C with ECON mode off. I have to say, it's really a strange feeling to be sitting at a red light with the motor still running

105 degrees? Yeah, there's more important things out there than hypermiling, like your health. Good call on the A/C.

If you want to know what happens to HCH mileage when you run A/C nonstop while in extreme stop and go traffic for 2.5 hours, take a look at my fourth tank from the top in the mileage database:

Default Use the A/C Light

Dallas has it about as bad. Rolling the windows down for a minute with the fan on max helps. After that I can keep the A/C on mostly on coasting and braking. I'd be lying to say that's the only time I've got it on, but at times fan-only will be OK.

I can't wait to get past tomorrow. It was about 5 degrees cooler today (103) than Sunday (108) thanks to a "cold front"

...but the real one is due in here (Austin, also) on Thursday morning. It will be 105 tomorrow and only 85 on Thursday. Bring out the sweaters
