Default Formal studies on hybrid cars

Hello hybrid owners. I have been a member of this forum for a few months, I haven't posted much, but I read through the threads, there is lots of great information on here!
I am looking for scientific reports on hybrid cars, are any of you aware of any of these? Such as online journals etc.
Thanks very much,
Jeff

Don't know exactly what you're looking for, but there have been several journals, articles, tests, and stories about hybrid cars. Look through the threads. Especially this one: http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/j...media.033.html

Hi Fastnx:

___You can google hybrid reports from a number of sites and government institutions (US labs). The following should help get you started?

Bluewaternetwork.org
Db.research.anl.gov
Environmantaldefense.org
EPA.gov
Evaa.org
NREL.gov
Transportation.anl.gov
Swri.org

___No guarantee that any of those url’s listed are still active however …

___Good Luck

Thanks for the links guys.

I am doing this report for a science class, and only accredited sources are available, such as peer-reviewed reports, scientific journals etc.

I will try to incorporate the info from the mileage database, I will only be able to compare like models of hybrid/non hybrid. Say comparing a HCH to a normal Honda Civic of the same year.

Jeff,

It is vital that you compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. If you're going to compare a "real-world" hybrid Civic to a "real-world" 4-door nonhybrid Civic, be sure your data is accurateand from the same source. You cannot compare, for instance, real mileage figures from GreenHybrid with EPA values for a nonhybrid.

Wasn't there someone on this forum that made a trip with two almost identical Civics? With the only difference being one was gasoline driven and the other was a hybrid? Both Civics loaded with about the same amount of weight and driving together over the same distance.

THAT, would be a great comparison for your paper.

Wow, that's a neat article; thanks for linking to it, xcel. It's nice they're working on a new one but for some reason they'll be using an '05 EX instead of an '06? That would be a more fair comparison since the '06 is more efficient and more aerodynamic. But it'll still be nice to see how they do with the '06 HCH.
