Default George Clooney is the 1st owner of a Tango (elec. car)

Check it out:

http://www.commutercars.com/

George Clooney took delivery of the first Tango T600 here in the states. Personally if I could afford the $85,000 sticker I would too

Nothing like pulling up to a Viper at a light with an electric car & smoking him off the line.

If people aren't familiar with the tango here's a little info:

Quote:
The Tango is a glimpse into the future of commuting. Lane doubling, lane splitting, and perpendicular parking will become commonplace. Traffic-induced headaches and lost time will fade into the past. No more worries about safety as you're ballasted for flat-out cornering stability and protected by a racing-certified roll cage designed to protect you and your passenger. Park in places you wouldn't even dream of in a Mini Cooper. Emission-free and exciting, the electric Tango T600 is designed to beat most sports cars in the quarter mile with acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4 seconds and a top speed of 150 miles per hour!
There are videos & photos at the site. I highly reccommend you check it out.

Plus they are planning more practical versions of the tango at $39K & $19K

motorcycle with side car, add a tire, put on a top = tango? I thought it took two to tango, that doesn't look like it will seat two people?

Edit: looking at the website, it looks like a great vacation vehicle for nudist (obviously for commuting only, no room for luggage or groceries)

The seating is tandem, much like a motorcycle or narrow-body aircraft.

Definitely NOT the car to take on a date to lover's lane.

Until they have an all electric vehicle with at least a 250 mile range, or charging stations at the common workplace, all electric vehicles are out for me. On a good day I only drive 150 miles....

Of course, the question I have is:

According to the product specs, it can tow a small generator so that it can be powered for extended drives. I wonder how you measure the "gas mileage" of a generator whose sole purpose is to provide current for an EV. It you link the EV car to a towed generator, doesn't that sort of make the Tango a hybrid?

That car looks, really, REALLY cool! I don't know if I'd be courageous enough to try to drive it 150 miles per hour like the product specs say you can.

Maybe they could design an EV motorcycle? That would be pretty cool.

.

Hope is like a candle held against the night.

One of the things that they listed in some of their original docs on the Tango was that the range was 150 miles, but there was a "quick charge" mode that would allow you to pull into a gas station & use one of their high voltage outlets. In 5-7 minutes it would give you enough of a charge to drive another 50-75 miles. I thought that was a really cool feature.

I just want to know what 0-60 in 4 seconds feels like in an electric vehicle

Also as far as cornering, dont forget that the car is ballasted with 2000Lbs of batteries. That means 95% of the weight of the car is only 3-5 inches from the ground. Very little roll in the car leads to hellacious turning. Check out the video they shot on an SCCA road course. it's awesome.
