Question Got any advice for the bigger driver?

Hi there! I'm going to be buying a car for the first time and I want a Hybrid. My fiance, a fan of the muscle car, is about 6' 2" and 300 lbs. If I can find a Hybrid roomy enough for him, it will save us a LOT of arguing. I don't like SUVs, but if I have to go that route I will. Any suggestions for a roomier-than-most Hybrid car?

I think you may have to go with an escape if you want hybrid. Though the accord may have a bit of room.

Have you tried a Prius II? I'm 6'2" and fit very comfortably in one, both passenger and driver, even the back seats are roomy enough. It's also got enough ooomph to boot it (if you aren't concerned about FE) even at high speeds. Fold-down seats make it able to carry quite a big load of stuff, climate control is very advanced too. You'll have to try one out, because just lookin' at it will give you the impression of a smaller can than it is on the inside.

I seriously don't think you would consider an Insight, but my best guess is it would seem small for anyone taller than 6'2" or weighing over 250 lbs.

I'm 6'3" and about 220 and love the HCH.

I think the biggest concern is the 300lbs. Height doesn't seem to be a problem. With 300lbs you tend to add a few inches each way due to the extra cuddly padding on you.

I think the best thing is just to take him along for a trial fit. You can calculate and get anecdotes all the time but when it comes to his actual comfort only he can make the call.

It never hurts to go for a trial fit.

Default New Concern: Disabled Passengers

This topic just reminded me of my Grandmom tring to get into my Insight. It's going to be a problem for a disabled person getting out of a smaller car with a low seat, esp. one like the Insight. Anyone in that situation I'd put something on top of the seat.

Honda Accord - designed for comfort. And it's got 6.5 second acceleration (250 horses).
