Have you been the victim of road rage?
I drive around 55 in the right-most lane of 4 to 7 lanes on Los Angeles freeways.
Some people (usually in SUVs) get really mad, even though I am in the far right lane.
Some people flash their brights, tailgate or honk.
I don't speed up for them and they eventually go around me.
Do you think I am wrong?
I was wondering what your experience is.
Have you ever been threatened by agressive drivers?
Need fewer troops to support.
Drive a hybrid.
Best tank 71.65 MPG.
Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.

Not in this car. I did have one idiot in DC decide he was going to 'chase' my Voyage van up I-66 about five years ago. Otherwise, just the occasional following too close and lights. But I'll hit my 'flashers' and that is usually enough to get them to change lanes.

Re: Have you been the victim of road rage?
I just try to drive in a safe manner depending on traffic conditions. Usually, I'm in the right 2 lanes going about 5mph over, so I don't feel too guilty. People usually just go around me. If I need to make an exit from the left lane, I'll ramp up the speed to match traffic for a few seconds until I make the exit.
Everyone is complaining about high cost of fuel but they still drive 70++ to ludicrous speed on the highways?? They just don't "get it".
Not too many flashers here in boston area anymore since it is illegal to do so and the troopers use unmarked vehicles for patrolling. The last thing you want to do is "flash" a trooper in the left lane to pull out of your way...

Re: Have you been the victim of road rage?
I really don't understand why some drivers don't just go around slower-moving vehicles even when all the lanes are empty. Is it too much trouble to signal a lane-change (assuming they use their signals at all)?
A couple of times in my previous car, I would be going 15-20 km/h (about 10 miles per hour) over the limit on the highway, then an impatient driver would go around me, but stick REAL close to my car during the pass.

If anyone drives aggressively or follows too closely; as soon as he passes you, just write down their license plate. Just make sure that he notices you did that. Trust me, he'll speed away as fast as he could. By the way, I usually drive the flow of traffic dictates - 65 to 80 miles per hour. But I never tailgating.

I've noticed that too. It comes off as bullying, although it may be more likely to be plain stupidity (possibly induced by substance abuse). Could be all of the above.
Whatever the reason, it's totally uncalled for.

I don't think it's a "hybrid" thing. In Baltimore, 18% of the residents are drug addicts. Crack Cocaine isn't exactly a mood enhancer.

Re: Have you been the victim of road rage?
Ive had folks rage at me. I see the bird, fist shaking with lip synching. I dont even drive a hybrid. It gets to me from time to time. Laws here are very clear. There are min and max limits. Stay within those post limits and screw them. If they really want to get ugly,, so be it. Im not called psycho for nothing. And I do keep a handgun in the car at all times.

Re: Have you been the victim of road rage?
I had a number of incidents.
One I let slide off this morning (almost) is the infamous "I'm tailgating like a crack addict and will use the right shoulder or access lane to pass". Still gave him the bright lights (in the past I'd do more). Don't want to get in his head for too long but can't help to think: "why do people in vehicles act like such utter a$$*****?" I almost want to rent a performance vehicle and act like them on the roads for a day, but I'd get arrested, and so should the idiot that passed me this morning.
Anyone every thought how different the roads would be if people just used vehicles in a utilitarian manner and forgot about pride or having a status symbol?

What?!?!? They have status?
Next you're going to tell me who gets there first 'counts.'
I like driving in Wyoming at night . . . when there are no headlights within 100 miles.
