Help in Getting Plug-In Hybrids Near YOU!!
I am a student at UCLA doing a 45 page Marketing Research report on Plug-in Hybrids.
I would appreciate HYBRID OWNERS to complete this 2 minute survey on SurveryMonkey here:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=449502897254
This is not an AD!
Thank you very much especially if my report gets published!

Re: Help in Getting Plug-In Hybrids Near YOU!!
On your survey questions that state "check as many as apply" the computer will only allow you to select one.
Did you know that there really are not ANY commercially available plug-in hybrids at this time? You can't buy one. So there are only a handful of owners who have modified their cars, and the rest are governmental test vehicles.

Yea Those are the questions to test the respondants if they are honest. Thank you so much! I will revise the survey again.

Sorry but some of the questions don't have answers I can choose but the survey insists that every question be answered. Fix the survey and I'll take another look but right now, it has more in common with advocacy rather than gaining insight.
If the survey software insists upon every question being answered, make the last choice, "none of the above."

Yes, there are several questions I can't honestly answer because my answer isn't represented. A none of the above answer would allow me to answer it.
For example, question 1. I own my vehicle. I owned my last vehicle, and had it for a decade. I plan on owning this vehicle for just as long. I certainly won't be getting a new vehicle in the next 4 years. (Unless something disasterous or fantastic happens.)

Other notes:
Some has more than one answers, like #5, three of those answers together would combine to pursuade me to buy a PHEV. Same w/ #7
Likewise for #4 - more than one is on my list

Yes, none of the above needs to be added as does the ability to select multiple choices where appropriate. Question 7 could use the option: "No plug-ins are available from major manufacturers and I won't buy one without a warranty"

Re: Help in Getting Plug-In Hybrids Near YOU!!
Honestly not a very good survey. I had a hard time answering almost every question. It would have been nice if there had been a place to write my own answers rather than choose one of yours, though I know it'd be harder for you to complie results that way, but it seems like a bit of a waste to pick the brains of people when they don't have the chance to give you something new that you hadn't thought of.
Here are my extended answers:
1. I plan to purchase a car within the next: My car will be paid off in 4 years, and I'd really love to be able to enjoy not having a car payment before buying another car. I'd like to drive my current car into the ground before I let it go. Once that happens the car I replace this one with will most likely be used.
2. I am considering buying: A lot of choices where left out of this question, such as: diesels, EVs, fuel cell vehicles, or some other combo, you are talking about the future after all. As of now it would seem like the next car I buy will be a 88+CRX shell to convert to an EV. Who knows if it will really happen, it's a day dream really. If I won the lottery or something I'd buy a Tesla Roadster the very same day.
3. My planned budget for my next vehicle purchase is: For a CRX shell, hopefully not more than $1k, not including parts for the conversion or generally spiffing up the shell. All together, $10k or less?
4. I am looking for a ___ type of vehicle: Compact: sedan, or hatchback.
5. What is the most attractive aspect of a plug-in hybrid? That it might be more appealing to the public than a straight EV because they'd be able to travel long distances/make unexpected trips without worrying about dead batteries. Being able to do the majority of your driving on batteries only, but that would be true for a pure EV too.
6. Currently, the price of a plug-in hybrid is about ten thousand dollars more than a traditional, gasoline powered vehicle. Do you think that paying more for a hybrid now will be beneficial to you sometime in the future? Do you mean a PHEV or a regular hybrid in this question? If you mean hybrid, yes. If you mean a plug-in, not for me personally, but for someone that has the money (people that would spend $50k on a car anyway), yes.
7. I perceive ____ to be the most unfavorable characteristic of a plug-in hybrid?
Just having the ICE (carrying it around, caring for it) when you're not using it most of the time. Rent a car if you need it.
8. Do you know anyone who owns a regular hybrid? Yes
9. Do you know anyone who owns a plug-in hybrid? No
10. If you saw someone driving a plug-in hybrid, your first thought would be (pick one): "!!!!Awesome." I would wish I could talk to them.
11. Are you a hybrid owner? Yes
12. Are you a plug-in hybrid owner? No
13. How likely would you buy a plug-in hybrid as your next vehicle purchase? (please pick one) unlikely, I'd rather have an EV, but I would prefer a PHEV over a HEV, it would depend on what was available, what I was looking for, and cost.
14. Indicate your gender: Female
15. What is your age? 19-24
