Default how do you guys/gals wash your cars??

Hi, I was curious how everyone went about washing their cars?

I was reading an at-home wash can use up to 100 gallons of water (which can then enter waterways untreated).

Plus, many of these washing products are petroleum-based which is bad for our health and the environment.

Thoughts?

I use a local, commercial service. Their machines handle the outside and the crew handles interior cleaning and wiping down the water spots. I don't know if their system fiters and recycles the 'brown water' but given costs, they would be foolish not to.

I use a garden hose at my house. The soap is specifically for cleaning cars, while not removing wax, which is important. I have to assume the soap is bio-friendly. Most of what is on the car is simple dirt, with some road grime. All of it is filtered into my gravel driveway, and filtered again by the gravely soil below.

I'm not about to feel guilty about washing my car. Road grime is the worst aspect, it is a minute quantity from my car, and it's everywhere roads are.

I use handiwipes. Takes about 200 to do the entire vehicle

Dont worry though, I only used recycled handiwipes that I harvest from the garbage at the KFC right down the block.

Soap, rinse, repeat, wax. I use the coin op up the road a bit. Seems to do a good enough job.

The bullet trains in Japan go thru a wash tunnel frequently to cut drag. Japan imports nearly all their oil and works hard not to waste it.

Shower water goes to treatment plants, car water doesn't.
