Looks like a detuned moter or high gearing on yaris/Vitz chassis.

Three cylinder 1 liter engine - sounds a lot like the old Geo Metro. I hope they bring it to the US as the wiki article states. FYI, we had a friend go over 300K miles on her Metro without any engine or tranny problems!

Sorry, according to your cited source it gets slightly worse mileage than the Prius and produces slightly more emissions.
