Smile How Many Hybrids on the Road in The U.S.

Does anyone know how many hybrids are on the road in the United States? I'm just curious because I just found out worldwide that the Pius had reached the million mark in production. I was trying to find out right now how many of all the different hybrids made are in the united states. Thanks for some help with this.

I usually use Hybridcars.com's "Hybrid Market Dashboard" for sales numbers.
They track monthly hybrid sales.

Start there to find the answer.

You might check with:

They've been following the production numbers and would be the most authoritative source for hybrid sales. However, I don't think anyone knows how many have been lost to accidents or otherwise retired.

Be careful about the definition of a hybrid. The belt-assisted hybrid are especially weak and looked to be more of a marketing ploy than serious engineering. This is based upon how much 'tax credit' respective vehicles were getting. Belt-assisted is better than nothing but lacks the ability to move on electric-only. I understand the IMA has electric-only, not from a dead stop, but in a sustaining momentum mode (I'm not an expert in this and could use some help.)

Hmm.. Is it true that GM start complementing their mild hybrids with Belt Assisted Start hybrids with electric motors and battery packs? Like the vehicles available from Toyota and Honda I guess which I think can do short distances on battery power alone.
