Hybrid car meet: Georgetown KY, Oct. 6-8?
Hi folks,
This weekend a bunch of us met at Georgetown KY to take a tour of the Toyota assembly plant and had a ball. But it occurred to me that this might be a good place to hold a hybrid car rally:
- Centrally located - it is within a half-day's drive from Detroit, Washington DC, Atlanta and Kansas City. This means we can attract folks from areas too far south of Tour de Sol, Hybrid Fest and the Washington State meetings.
- Toyota plant tour - it is just drop dead wonderful. My only regret is not taking the tour several times, there is so much to absorb.
- University of Kentucky - has a good engineering and science school who may be able to help.
But before working on something like this, I'd like to find out if there is any interest and discuss what sort of program we might work out. Also, this is not an effort that one person can (or should) take on but requires a team approach. So the poll is important as well as the discussion.
Thanks,
Bob Wilson

Re: Hybrid car meet: Georgetown KY, Oct. 6-8?
I have family in Paducah but this is too far away for a sidetrip and I would have to make it purely a weekend trip as I won't have a vacation day at that point but there wasn't a vote for "lukewarm" or "maybe" so I chose "unlikely" as I love hitting these meets but they don't always fit the schedule. The last gathering I hit was 600 miles away from me in Milwaukee and can't wait to hit others as well and this is a mere 365 miles from me this time so we'll see.
--> Averaged 685 miles/week and 49.0 mpg in first year (35.7k miles from Aug 7, 2006 to Aug 7, 2007)
