Default hybrid design

As a new Escape owner I have been going crazy trying to find out the facts behind the buzzwords that Ford uses to describe the operation of the car. Probably those of you who have been around longer are better informed.

Anyway, I finally found a professional reference that actually takes a crack at analyzing hybrid performance the way an engineer might do it. Unfortunately it gives far more detail on the Prius than on the Escape, but it is very informative at a technical level. It dates from January 2005, and the link is

http://www.engin.umd.umich.edu/vi/w4...Miller_W04.pdf

Hal

Oops. What I typed was /w4_workshops/ but it seems to have gone through as /w.../. Ah the mysteries of life.

Thumbs up Re: hybrid design

Hi Hal,

I've really enjoyed this report but it mentions a "workshop." Can you give any details of the workshop?

I simply stumbled over it through Google, and know no more than that. But the guy is obviously a pro, based in Michigan, so he must have written other stuff. And there may be later workshops.

FWIW, this is also interesting, and is newer.

And in this one /w.../etc means /w5_workshops/Chris_Mi_handout.pdf

The URL has thoes dots in there becauser the fourm software automattically shortns the URL to display easier. Don't worry, the link still works. It just is shortened to display eaiser on the page. -Michael
