Default Its amazing how the incentive of high gas prices can improve your FE

Through a combination of reducing my cruising speed by 10MPH, doing more idle shutoff while coasting, and some driving with load, I managed to get over 62MPG out of my 92 Civic CX hatchback (non-hybrid). Previous to this I have been averaging low 50's MPG.

Hi Basjoos:

___Ahhh, that was refreshing … I knew you were going to come around eventually Nice job on your latest and I look forward to hearing about many more! Wait until you begin a FAS, Semi-P&G, and D-FAS regiment where appropriate. 70 + may not be that far away after all!

___Good Luck

I know what you mean. I've been running my Durango 4x4 around for 5 years now, averaging about 13.25 mpg. After Katrina blew through and wiped out our gasoline supply lines and prices jumped to $3.15 per gallon in my area I bought a used 2003 HCH and am currently driving my wife's Dodge Intrepid while I wait for delivery of the Civic. I think a lot of people will be considering and buying hybrids in the near future if they haven't already.

Yes it does.

You have learned something valuable. That a driving behavior change is THE KEY to better FE, regardless of the vehicle you drive. Congratulations!

One of the nice aspects of all hybrids is that they provide you with instant feedback of your FE, which makes you very aware of which behaviors will easily improve your FE.

Since I satrted driving my 05 HCH, I've also been getting better mileage on my wife's 01 Chrysler Concorde.
