Most if not all of us brush with hurried people that when they do think, it's too simplistic and emotionally. I could not resist but to reprint someone's experience at a gas station.

Maybe it's just that she can't read - the sign at the pump or the logo on my car.
Above all, she could be a sucide bomber leaving her car running. They fine people for that reason.
Did you know Toyota makes a hybrid Prizm? OK, I'm taking a dig at the Hyundai SUV driver. From her perspective of going thru the day in a frustrated trance, exercising some common sense or driving a "Prizm" makes you "smug".
This capsulizes the problem of driving sensibiliy - way too many people that are tuned out while driving. They pretend they have autopilot and it does not matter how you get from point A to point B - really? To heck with driving safety or fuel economy. Add to all this ag4ever's comment that many people are obsessed with what they are seen driving.

I used to worry about lack of seat-belt usage, motorcycle riders without helmets, tobacco smoking, excessive drinking, gun nuts, and drug abuse until I realized these are just 'natural selection' at work. There are some folks who make you wander off, shaking your head in wonder.

I see it all the time at the pumps here in MA as well. Some even smoking a butt. I always try and refrain from comment because you never know who's packing heat or not. I was filling up one very cold day and a very tall truck pulled into the pumps adjacent to me and ripped out half of the overhead fire suppression system, some of which fell onto my vehicle. Luckily it didn't hit me on the head. Here in MA you can buy your license at any Sears....
Propane in the tires? God help the poor mechanic that tries to change that tire. Ka boom...
Re: The Kind of People Many of us are Dealing With
This is the 1st time I've ever heard of the propane insanity. I hope nobody actually does that.
A few years ago they built a new big 10-pump station near our old house. Within 1 week of opening there was an explosion. One pump destroyed and they had to repair part of the burnt canopy.
I don't recall if it was a static spark, smoking or idling. But I do remember it was due to stupidity and completely preventable. Nobody was hurt that time.
Regarding the rude lady, sometimes arrogant pride based in stupidity trumps logic. I don't quite understand that.
Efficient drivers do it better. 1003 miles a tank personal record. 74MPG calculated. HCH1 CVT
