Lakedudes video
Having taken warning from what happened here when the site got slashdoted I decided to run bittorent to distribute lakedudes video. If people absolutely can't install a bittorent client and must get the files you can PM me and I'll give you a link to them. They are very very very large.
I'm having all sorts of trouble posting the link so go to http://hybrid.wrathof.com (thats a page I through together just for this) It will have the link

Re: Lakedudes video
Thanks! This will be my first download using bittorrent. Hopefully I understand enough to make this work.
On a related note...
When I get the time I'll have to post my daily drive info.
I have the mile by mile mpg along with the elevation in 1/2 mile increments.

Hmmm...who's more obsessed...the person who makes the video, or the person who downloads the video?

O.k. xcel, you've got me beat.
And by the way, the video got the official "BORING" vote from my kids.
I can't image why they don't enjoy it as much as I do?

Re: Lakedudes video
Hi Ericbecky:
___I went out to see Star Wars with the kids so when I got back, it was already to go! Lakedude’s vid was almost as enjoyable as the movie to me for some reason
___Lakedude, excellent use of Forced Auto-Stop throughout your drive … Nice to let her warm up at slow cruise before the first Forced Autostop as well. The only item I would add is to attempt to use less or no assist under all the climbs and accelerations from the lights/signs. Downshift to 4th and then 3rd if you need to but the speed limits appeared to be low enough to appear to make a slower climb OK? With a smaller hit on the SoC, you could use 5th gear coming down instead of a clutched startup in 3rd to grab some regen. You will receive some Fuel Cut in 4th and 5th but your speeds might be a bit on the high side and I bet you have seen some State Troopers on the bottom of that hill given your comments on it
___It appeared like you were accelerating a bit faster then I would in the Insight through your subdivision and on the road with little to no traffic? I did see a small hit on the SoC but that last long downhill hill looked like a great way to run the SoC right back up. Excellent commentary and it wasn’t boring by any means for any hypermiler wanting to learn a thing or two!
___Good Luck

Re: Lakedudes video
xcel
I'm not sure what you are talking about with that 3rd gear thing, and what is a soc?
Here are some notes on the video by timestamp. Please include timedata with any questions or advice.
EDIT: NOTE: all posted limits good until the next posted limit.
0.00 In the garage. My garage has a lift to store 2 cars in a one car garage. As a result a non-standard roll up door similar to what you would find in a storage uint is required. For 4 years it was a manual system that required getting out to shut the door. That door was replaced by a very nice insulated motorized automatic door recently.
1.07 entering subdivision road LIMIT 20 miles per hour
2.03 driving in the subdivision in 4th gear, speeding. 3rd gear tends to be much more agressive with pack assist and the mpgs are worse in 3rd gear so 4th is a better choice.
3.24 4 lane highway LIMIT 60 miles per hour
4.45 same road LIMIT 55 miles per hour
7.00 On flat ground at the base of a hill very little pedel pressure mpgs near 60 (instant) and assist kicks in anyway. This is surprising and unwanted so I back off the gas for a second then push the gas pedel in even farther and ...
7.15 Instant mpgs under 40 and for some reason assist is not kicking in. Which is what I was wanting. Assist seems to have a mind of its own.
9.45 3rd gear restart for regen after a long pine wood derby style coast.
9.55 2 lane backroad LIMIT 40 miles per hour This road runs along the edge of town kinda in town kinda not.
10.34 Got caught by a light I expected to make. Used 3rd gear regen to slow down well before the intersection so a complete stop was not required.
18.03 3rd gear restard with regen to slow down for stop sign.
18.21 stopped. A right turn followed by a short downhill followed by a light that is always red. I only started the car long enough to get it moving on the downhill and cut it back off right away, coasting to the light.
18.46 stopped. engine is off. This light usually takes longer during the day with traffic. Because of the stop we do not get a running start at the following hill so it must be climbed in 4th gear.
18.55 3 lane road LIMIT 45 miles per hour this road is highway running thru town. It normally has quite a bit of traffic.
20.55 3 lane widens to 4 lanes
21.45 same road 4 lanes LIMIT 50 miles per hour
22.06 Cut ICE off at the top of the big hill. This is one spot you are going way slower than normal traffic.
22.50 5th push start to kick in regen. The Vette does not have regen so you end up going 70 at the bottom of the hill in the Vette if you coast (Not Good). The HCH is much nicer because you are keeping your speed within the limit (I mispoke slightly on the tape).
23.53 4th gear push start to regen. Going downhill but need to slow down for a light and a fairly sharp right turn.
24.25 2 lane LIMIT 35 miles per hour
25.35 2 lane LIMIT 40 miles per hour
27.05 This segment of forced auto stop was really not long enough to make it worth it. I should have just left the car in gear or cut it off sooner.
27.27 2 lane LIMIT 35 at first. State does not maintain the first quarter mile
28.00 state maintenance starts LIMIT 45 miles per hour
28.45 In the lot at work. Engine is off but power steering still works, looking for a spot and bleeding the last bits of speed off.

Re: Lakedudes video
Hi Lakedude:
___SoC is your “ State of Charge” or battery gauge/meter. The third gear restart occurred at 09:45 and 18:03 in the timeline you posted. Why not a 5th gear start instead? You will still receive a fully pegged regen w/ fuel cut once she is spun up but you won’t receive as harsh a momentum killer. I loved regen when there wasn’t anything else you could do but hit the mechanicals but I hated it under most circumstances because it took so much momentum away. I have seen higher speeds and little to no assist give the Insight some incredible numbers and I think you might want to try it? Let me know how it works. Even though the Insight and your HCH are two different animals, they are of the same parents
