Default Master Dissertation on Hybrids from London

Hello MiHG members and friends,

A MiHG friend of ours in London, Julia – Caroline Schmidt, has ask if we could help her to get information for her Master Dissertation for the London School of Economics on “The Public Perception of Hybrid Vehicles.”

I will be sending this request out to all our members and friends and will post on various sites as well. I’ve included a short statement from Julia as well as her link below. If we could assist her in answering her questionnaire and email it back to her by July 25, 2007, we would be doing a great service for Julia and the hybrid movement.

Since we’re all in this together, I would appreciate your consideration in helping Julia out.

As part of a Master programme in International Management at the London School of Economics a project on "The Public's Perception of Hybrid Electric Vehicles" is currently being carried out on a world wide basis. The aim is to get a better insight about how the general public, hybrid vehicle owners as well as non owners feel about topics such as the environment, innovations and automobiles in general. For this reason a questionnaire of multiple choice questions has been compiled.

Thank you very much for your time and support in answering the questions from the link below,

Julia - Caroline Schmidt

Done. Easy. And not too personal.

Answering question 32 makes no sense IF you own a hybrid. It forces you to answer, so I answered in the middle.

I am normally rather skeptical of survey requests but this one seems fair enough with well craft, neutral questions. I'd be interested in seeing the results.

BTW, I agree question #32 is broken for hybrid owners. So I chose the middle option since as an owner, I can't answer for a "not hybrid owner."

Q-32: If I was not a hybrid owner and know what I know now I would answer strongly agree-so I did

A literal reading is "I am not currently owning a hybrid electric car, . . ." which is where I had a problem. I am currently owning a hybrid electric car. So in one sense, I'm disqualified from answering #32. However, this is not a test, it is a 'survey' and like hand grenades and horseshoes, close enough works. <grins>

It would be a perfectly fine question without the qualifier. But this starts to approach the fuzzy boundary of a 'push poll' that tries to educate. Other than this one question, it is a perfectly reasonable poll and well crafted. I'd give the author at least a B+ up to an A in design. The final grade is dependent upon the rigor of the analysis.

I remain interested in seeing the results.

I did it.

But yeah... #32 was a stinker. I'm glad the degree isn't in statistics.

Quick and simple, only took about 5 minutes. I picked the middle for #32 also, but hope that the fact that I said I own a hybird allows her to filter out my answer.

Did the survey.

To original poster:

I think we would all like it if you would post results of your friend's study when it's done. Thanks.

As others have said, this was a pretty brief and to the point set of questions, and it seems like there might be some interesting results.
