Talking Mower Exchange (ICE -> Electric)

Sorry if this is old-news/repost... But just for those of you living in Southern California there's a government sponsored mower exchange currently. I just recently found out about this (1.5week prior to the registration) from a friend of mine when we're talking about mowers...

http://www.aqmd.gov/tao/lawnmower.html

I actually just turned in my roughly 10yr old gasoline mower this past weekend for an emission-free mower. Tho I haven't yet had a chance to try it after the battery finished charging. Looking forward to it tho. :-)

FYI the process itself was fairly painless. I just registered, loaded up the mower in the back, then drive up to Pasadena...

I have a black and decker mower, and it does a fairly good job. I got it from my dad since he now uses a lawn service and I moved houses and stopped using a lawn service.

The gas mower do a better job, but the black & decker does a good enough job for me. Also my mower is about 4 years old and was in storage for about 2 years not on a charger and it is running just fine today.

Cool...good to know.

Although I already have an electric corded mower 8 yrs ago. Of course, 8 yrs ago I bought it over a gas mower because it was quieter and dont smell, but mainly because I didnt want to use liquid fuel when I can just "plug it in". Just like cars...I would have bought a car I can just plug in had there been a choice.

Interesting. Hopefully other states will adopt a similar mandate.

I just had my first "issues" with my electric mower.

I had not cut the yard in a week and a half with constant rains, and the back yard was long. The mower kept stopping and I assume overheating since it would not turn back on for about 3 minutes. It did have enough power to finish the yard though.
