Default My 04 HCH was looking a bit dingy.

After 16 months and 38K miles the paint didn't look quite new anymore so I went to my local Wal-Mart for some paste wax.

I usually buy the Turtle stuff as it is pretty cheap ($2.44/can) but noticed another paste wax that cost 3.5 times more but carried a big promise.

I decided to treat my car to the more expensive "Meguiars Gold Class" paste wax.

For those who still need to do their pre-summer wax I'd HIGHLY reccomend this product.
Today I waxed my car (5 hours) and please let me tell you that it looks better than when it rolled off of the dealers lot.

Really, no kidding at all.

The project was done in the shade on a cool car.
I've used Turtle in the past and found it very difficult to get out of the nicks-&-crannies and especially where it accidentally gets onto rubber or plastic.
This didn't have that problem. Heck, afterward I went over the rubber & plastic parts with the wipe-off rag and those look new too.
It all went on & off very easily.

Afterward I went over it again with a fresh cotton towel and am completely impressed.
I also got their detailing spray to help maintain the great looks.

Tomorrow I'll have to apply fresh rain-x on the glass but for this evening I'll probably just take an Aspirin.

I also found out that the generic bug & tar remover also doubles as an excellent tire & wheel cleaner, when I'm out of the real stuff.

.

Efficient drivers do it better.
1003 miles a tank personal record. 74MPG calculated. HCH1 CVT

Yeah I did the same thing. I actually used the most expensive wax at Target. My rationale being that protecting the paint paid off over time and I am planning on keeping the car for 300K miles barring any unfortunate problems. Repainting could cost a lot.

I have a black Prius... after I applied Turtle wax it looked like a mirror it shined so much! But some of the flat black trim did get wax on it and that was a serious pain. I will try this stuff you mentioned next time I need to buy wax. Thanks for the suggestion!

For what it's worth, I asked the Honda detail guy where I bought my Insight what he would recommend and was told that he (and therefore that particular Honda dealership) used Meguiar's products.

Dang it... paid $20 for a "super special" car wash yesterday and it still had spots and the outline of bird droppings on it afterwards. What a waste of money!
