Default My HCHII tought me to get 38mpg in my BMW 325.

After getting our HCHII, I haven't driven our 2006 BMW 325i in weeks. I figured I better stretch it's legs on a commute today.

Once on the interstate, I reset the mpg meter. After a few minutes, I looked down to see 42 mpg -- I was shocked!

So after leaving the interstate, I continued with my hybird-taught-light-foot-method and parked my car this morning with 38mpg on the meter.

My HCHII taught me to do this!

Just thought I'd share.

P.S. EPA rating for our bimmer is 20/30, and I avg'd 19-21 in mixed driving -- pre-hybrid.

Same story for me.
I used to get milleage in the mid 20's on my Acura EL. Now, I am almost approaching 40 mpg.
To me, this is as amazing as it is humbling and as you, I owe it all to my HCH-2.

Cheers;

MSantos

I wish that was the story for me. My HCH I averages about 45mpg and even with the light foot method and all the tricks, I can still only coax about 16mpg out of our truck.

I have had the same experience. Learning to drive with a light foot and constant speed on my 2004 HCH has carried over to my other vehicles. I can now regularly get 30 mpg on my 4 cyl S-10 Pick-up. I used to get 24-25 mpg on this truck.

It's amazing what you can do with a couple of gauges!

Congrats! You should add your Bimmer to the mileage database too if you haven't already. Keep up the good work.

That's fantastic! As for you, challenger1, I'm not too surprised to hear it, especially if it's an old truck. Trucks get worse mileage than SUVs much of the time, and older vehicles do even worse. That makes mdline's accomplishment so much the sweeter, then! Good for those of you who make it carry over, and good luck, challenger1, with the same goal!
