With gas prices over $2.00/Gallon some Honda dealers are out of stock of Hybrids.
I called a couple of Honda dealers posing as a potentiial customer to check to see what a HCH/Insight goes for these days. Still MSRP but I'd have to wait.
Last January (Only 4 months ago) I had 3 HCH's to choose from the lot.
I'm seeing more on the road and 1, 2 or more Prius almost daily.
I think when the new models are out they will go quickly.

Another thing I've noticed is that other drivers are also trying to conserve gas through better driving skills. Last January 95% of the general freeway traffic would pass my near speed limit pace by 2-5 MPH. Recently I find that I have to move out of the Right lane more often to pass a slower vehicle. (Usually someone with their cruise control on).

Have anyone else noticed a change in the general traffic driving habbits?
Thanks
Steve

I had 7 HCHs to choose from in March. Well, a month ago, I saw one of the ones that I did not choose (had the dealer plates still). I noticed the driver was going 5 mph below the speed limit in the right lane. As I passed him, I looked over, and he was kicking back, with a pipe in his mouth, enjoying the ride.

In general, on I-25 through Co. Springs, most are still going 5 to 15 mph over the speed limit. But on the little state highway (CO-115) that I take to the Springs, I've noticed less SUVs and more little cars, primarily Ford Focus, old Geo Metro and Prizm, and some Corollas and non-hybrid Civics. I've noticed this trend over the past year. And the few SUVs I do see, they're the ones going 5 to 15 mph over the speed limit on that road. I guess if you guzzle gas, why not go for broke.

I'm thinking it's pretty interesting that gas prices in Orlando coincide almost exactly with national averages. We jumped to $2.00 and just went down to $1.97.

hehe, i've noticed that too Steve. i actually had trouble driving on the highway b/c i was going faster that people down some of the hills. around town though....everyone is still doin rabit starts.

interesting occurance (OT i know) i saw a HCH the other day. it was at a stopsign...i was like, hmm, that looks funy. so i checked for the center mounted antena...NONE! but then when i checked for the little emblem...i couldnt quite read it, but it started w/ an H and was below the right taillight. that would be a HCH, no?

If it didn't have the antenae, it was likely just a regular Civic. The emblem could have been "Honda"

The "HYBRID" emblem on the HCH is below the right taillight. If it was an HCH, then maybe the owner removed the antenna -- maybe to reduce drag and add another 0.1 mpg.

If there was an antenna, just not in the center, then maybe it was a non-hybrid civic, and the emblem was a marketing one for the dealer???

scratch that...maybe there was one, i was just looking out of intrest how the HCH looks again...i forgot that the antena is on the front of the roof, i was looking on the back (leading edge vs. trailing)..woops

edit: ok, scratch that...is there a separate style between the 03 and 04, cuz the civic i saw had that little bar down the middle of the airdam

Yes, the tell tale antenna is in the center of the leading edge of the roof.
