The other day I was thinking about how cars calculate odometer and mileage readings, and it occured that they must be based on the circumference of the tire. Should one inflate or deflate the tire any different than the intended circumference, even to a small degree, would not all these calculations be incorrect? Furthermore, what ensures the accuracy of any odometer?

If I REALLY wanted to be annoying, I'd ask if distances covered in reverse count on the odometer (but I won't )
