Default Ontario Gov't Rebate for leased cars.

I have received some mixed information concerning the P.S.T. rebate. Is the Ontario gov't rebate available to me immediately or do I have to wait for a certain number of payments before I am eligable to claim it?

Thanks.

It is a $2,000 Sales Tax rebate, if you buy the car you are entitled to get the Sales Tax you paid refunded. In my case I bought 2 cars (HCH) earlier this year, for one of them I received $2k because the PST I paid was more than $2k, for the other one I received around $1,600 because I traded my wife's car and this reduced the tax I paid to $1,600. The refund took 6 weeks from the time I mailed my claim.

I was going to lease the 2nd car and I was told that I could only claim the PST amount for each monthly payment (under $30 per month), they told me not to send claims every month, instead I was supposed to send claims at the end of each year for all payments made until then.

The good quality and performance of the 1st car convinced me to buy the second car rather than leasing it. It also made the PST claim simpler.

My 2 cars have now over 12,000 km and so far we are very happy with them. I believe these cars have made us better drivers. Also we use to pay in gas $65 cdn to drive each car every week. Now we fill up every 2-3 weeks and pay under $40 cdn to fill up. We've driven from Toronto to Miami and also Toronto to Montreal. In my opinion Honda makes the best cars and the HCH is their best car.

Best Tank = 54.2 mpg (Sep. 9'06)
Best Trip = 61.9 mpg
