That's actually pretty funny, because once at my job, a co-worker called me "Boy Scout" when referring to me when talking to my boss.....

I never got a Pinewood derby patch, and I never had a fast car. The fast cars had no personality. They were a thin wedge of wood, with enough lead put in them to meet minimum weight and to kill a large mammal.

The last Pinewood I entered I figured I had no chance of winning, so I went for design instead. Dad helped me carve the vehicle to look like a fenders off T bucket or Model A from American Graffiti or something like that. It has something like six coats of power blue paint with 3 more coats of clear lacquer on top. I didn't have time to do any striping.

I won 1st place for design, but it wasn't very fast. I still have it someplace in my house, but I'm not sure where.
