Default From Porsche to Prius

Hello,

I have just taken the step to the world of Hybrid automobiles moving from a Porsche to a Prius. Perhaps you may be interested in why I made the move and I've written an article detailing my personal motivation in case you are interested.

When you get a chance, take a peek at the FAQ in the Prius forum. Hopefully, it will give you some good pointers. We also encourage folks to start logging tanks in the mileage database. This will help you optimize your performance and give you an idea what other folks are achieving.

Great, I look forward to participating here and I'm definitely interested in seeing what other Prius owners are getting for gas mileage - I've heard the gamut from 35-60 so it will be interesting to see where we all really net out.

Thanks,
Joseph

josephgut,

Welcome!

If your experience is like many others, expect to learn new tricks on your Prius two years from now. I got an Insight back in 2000 and my fuel economy improvement has definitely been an ongoing process from aggressive driving to going the speed limit, to hypermiling, to understanding all the hybrid nuiances.

Driving will not be boring.

I went from a Vette to a Civic Hybrid for similar reasons. Welcome to to the club! Would you trade your Prius on a 100% electric if one was available at a similar cost?

Cool.

Welcome to the good-guys' side.

Looking back at the source of my "greeness," it was probably the two years I spent in Alaska. There's nothing like seeing first hand glaciers receding to make global warming real, and not some hypothetical issue.
