Yes, the hostility index on this thread is high.
Everybody could make an effort to be more dispassionate about their point of view.
Having said that, I think some members need to get thicker-skinned.
All of us have to hear things about ourselfs we don't like to hear (things at the workplace, family, in public....) Some of those things are best dealt with - not dismissed. We can either deal with them or ignore them. For example, an ex-coworker was doing a number of things that was not professional. I tried over several lunches to gently encourage him to address them - his superiors were more direct and documented it. Finally, he was given an ultimatium and decided to leave - his career has never recovered.
