Angry Posted to GM Site Today

The following message was posted at gmnext.com. Let's see if it actually gets posted since GM supposedly reviews prior to posting on this web site. I am furious with the fact that GM had something that worked and now they are saying they have to go back to the drawing board with the Volt- so what did they destroy the EV1 technology altogether- I think NOT.

VOLT - FACT of FICTION? Instead of wasting valuable time and money on solutions that are NOT proven to work- why aren't you concentrating on the one real solution...ELECTRIC CARS. After all, you had the solution before but your timing was not right since gas was only $1.50 when you released the EV1. Can't you understand that Toyota and Honda are going to be the dominant leaders in the Green Auto Industry and GM will be lagging far behind them. By the way, a bad decision to have sold the Nickel Metal Hydride Battery Pack to Chevron/Texaco- what is wrong with that picture? Even if you do get the Volt to market- (the odds of me getting hit with an asteroid is better)- why wouldn't you have made a diesel hybrid? After all, you purchased Isuzu just to acquire the diesel engine. How soon you forget about the GM Precept? It was claimed to achieve 108mpg in Jan. 11, 2000. Seems like a Volt to me-huh? Wake up GM and understand no one now wants BUMMERS - we want EV1s!!!

What is there to test... You can already convert a Prius to a Serial Hybrid Plug-In PHEV. I think that E-Flex fuel systemstands for Farmers Love Expensive Xovers get it. How could the most reliable technology in the world have to be tested. After all there are only 100 million Electric wheel chairs in the US. Seems to me that the EV is a well matured technology.

Can't you understand that Toyota and Honda are going to be the dominant leaders in the Green Auto Industry and GM will be lagging far behind them.

Here we go again, only Asian companies can do it. Well, you better read this link: http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/01/17/toyota-still-apprehensive-about-lithium-ion-in-spite-of-phev-pla/

I will save you some time, the President of Toyota stated (Jan. 2008) the planned PHEV Prius will be sold to fleet customers only. Only a few hundred will exist and Toyota needs feedback prior to making these available to retail customers. This link (Oct. 2007) http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/new_cars/4227944.htmlreveals Toyota is using modified dual [FONT='Arial','sans-serif'][font=Verdana][size=2]nickel-metal hydride (NiMh) battery packs (existing battery composition) to achieve an electric range of all 7 miles

I can't speak for Honda. Evidence that Toyota is leading the development for PHEV with new battery chemistry (lithium-ion) is lacking.
By the way, Ford already has their PHEV on the road undergoing real world testing.[

Billyk... You just don't get do you!!! I don't care about the Fleet testing or real world testing. These vehicles already existed in production for well over 10 years. How soon you forget about the vehicles that where already offered to the public such as the Ford THINK, Honda EV+, Nissan Altria (LION Bat.), The Toyota RAV4 EV, and OH! lets not forget the EV1!!!! Don't be studpid like the rest of the US. This is why we are paying $4.00 a gallon for gas. Don't forget people like Hummers I meen Bummers more and they love suporting the SCUM OPEC nations other wise why would we be having this conversation....

I do get it.

Your previous post stated "Toyota and Honda are going to be"..... as in the future.

Your reply refers to past. Make up your mind.

BillyK- NO I AGREE with indyr4400. Past is indicative of the FUTURE. After all, electric cars did work efficiently then and will work even better now. Allow me to change the tense- English major- Toyota and Honda ARE the dominant hybrid market leaders. SHAME ON THE AMERICAN CAR COMPANIES for NOT jumping on hybrids sooner. The only shame on the Japanese is that they crushed the RAV4 EV (Toyota) and Honda had the most economical hybrid in the world but chose to discontinue production because there is supposedly no demand for this type of vehicle.

Um, is it just me or does this survey not make sense. The last question can not be answered via a button, it's multiple choice.

If you choose the last question - that means the Prius will be the first plug in available to the public. My bets would be on Toyota.
