Can't you understand that Toyota and Honda are going to be the dominant leaders in the Green Auto Industry and GM will be lagging far behind them.
Here we go again, only Asian companies can do it. Well, you better read this link:

I will save you some time, the President of Toyota stated (Jan. 2008) the
planned PHEV Prius will be sold to fleet customers only. Only a few hundred will exist and Toyota needs feedback prior to making these available to retail customers. This link (Oct. 2007)
http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/new_cars/4227944.htmlreveals Toyota is using modified dual [FONT='Arial','sans-serif'][font=Verdana][size=2]nickel-metal hydride (NiMh) battery packs (existing battery composition) to achieve an electric range of all 7 miles
I can't speak for Honda. Evidence that Toyota is leading the development for PHEV with new battery chemistry (lithium-ion) is lacking.
By the way, Ford already has their PHEV on the road undergoing real world testing.[
