If the 94 MPG numbers floating around about the '09 Prius are true, then methinks the '09 model year will be PHEV, if only mid way through the model year. If true, it will be the game changer.

A $48K Chevy Volt or a $30K to $35K Prius PHEV? Hmmmmmmm.

.

Chevy Volt or Li-ion PHEV Prius?

Hmmm. What color choices are available?

Plus, Toyota has an enormous advantage- they have been producing the Prius for many years. Another advantage of buying a Toyota vs. GM. Toyota lets you have the choice OWN vs. LEASE. GM will most likely force people into a CLOSED END LEASE ONLY with the Volt. That way, if the car should become successfully, they can take them back and CRUSH THEM - just as they did with the EV1s.
