Default Prius Trivia -- Convoy question

Are all models of the Prius delivered with the HSD emblem on the rear trunk lid?

I fell in with with a three Prius convoy coming back from Portland last night. We were happily moving North on I-5 at about 60 miles per hour, and I was amazed at how speed compatible the TCH was to the rest of the convoy. When they pemitted acceleration on a down grade, I found my own acceleration rate totally compatible with no need to brake in spite of the heavier TCH. Similiar, on upgrades it seemed like roughly equivalent assist demands were taking place as no-one was doing anything different.

My question above comes because I noticed that one Prius was different. It had no HSD emblem. Instead, on the right rear it had a "Prius" badge. On the left side was a two word badge -- and the second word was "Hybrid", but I never got close enough to read the top one.

We rolled on in a right lane convoy for about 60 miles until I had to exit I-5 at the Tenino exit. It was lots of fun.

I don't know what the answer is to the "badge" question. All Prius' I've seen have the HSD emblem.

I have also found, however, that the highway pace set by semi drivers is a good speed for matching good fuel efficiency with decent trip elapsed time. I spend more and more time in the middle lane now running 60 to 68 miles per hour, often behind a semi; can keep my gas mileage well in the mid 50s (sometimes upper 50s) at that speed.

FastMover,
The badging you described is that of a 2001-2003 Prius which had a sedan body style as opposed to the hatchback style of the 2004-present Prius. 2004 is also the first year Toyota's used the HSD badging. The top badge you were unable to read was "Toyota". If all three Prius in the convoy were of the 2004-present body style, then I can only guess that the owner of the car with different badging ordered & installed the 2001-2003 badging because they liked it better.

Thanks, Chris.

Now that I think of it, that car was a little different, and I do think it was more sedan-like. It was also a color of blue that I have not seen on the newer Prius -- darker I think.
