Default Prius Vs. Vue Hybrid

I have a Toyota Prius but want a "faster car" and I can't afford to pay more than 24,000. Is the Vue Green Line signifigantly faster than the Prius?

Faster as in: 0 to 60 times? ... or max speed?

Maybe a "real" hybrid is not the vehicle for you.

But on the other hand, the Vue appears to be the best "hybrid" non-hybrid you can get.

The Vue would be slightly faster.

Default No, probably not faster at all- Used Accord Hybrid-rocket ship!

I couldn't find any times on the hybrid Vue, but from the specs it won't be faster than the 10.4 0-60 that is usually reported for the Prius(2004 and later). It has a very small, pretty weak electric motor-20 hp or less-the Prius has a 40+ HP electric motor in a 2900 lb car vs 20 hp in a 3800 lb car. The Prius gets a pretty decent boost in rolling accel from those 40 high torque horses-especially at city speeds-15-45mph.The VUE won't get much boost at all.
For $24000 you can buy a low mileage Hybrid Accord. It is a rocketship compared to those two(about 6 seconds 0-60). In fact it is much, much quicker than most vehicles on the road.It will beat the Vue in city and hy mpg.
You might be able to get a Hybrid Camry for about $25000 with a tax credit of several hundred. It is much quicker than the Vue and the Prius. It gets about 80% of the mpg of a Prius-very good.
The HH is also reasonably quick-7.4 0-60. However, used ones haven't dropped to $24000 yet-more like $27000.
Luck,
Charlie

For my area alot of people have had to sell their Prius car's because of slowness. The main interstate is you have to floor it or you will never get on. I have had almost 8 crashes because I am sitting and waiting fro a clearing to merge and I am sitting going about 6 MPH and I have to floor it to go but the Prius is all electric and I had to wait another 2 secodns for the gas engine to crank up and I almost got hit buy a car and had to swerve over, the state trooper saw and had to "escourt me" on the interstate using lights and sirens. Some people have said wait for a long gap, well honey there is no gap unless you wait for over an hour. I car about MPG, but also for my life

Umm I have to go to work and I am not leaving at 5:00 A.M just because my slow car has no power. I can't be late because I will be fired and the interstate is the only way to get to my office, I am sure it is. Most people in my area either have V6 Sedans or V8 Tahoes.

Save your money and go for a non-hybrid and a fast one at that. Maybe go with a mustang gt.

You aren't going to be happy.

I find that 0-60 times in <20 seconds is plenty of time since most of the time people are merging they usally have a head start on the on ramp.

Sell the prius before it kills you.

BTW, where is this highway of death? I want to know so I can stay away from it.

Sorry about all that sarcasm. But seriously. Get a mustang gt or a sports car, most family cars don't have the HP or 0-60 speeds you are looking for.
