It seems to me that my new Prius is faster than my '99 Civic. At the very least, when I floor the Prius I can do a decent passing maneuver on a two-lane road, and merge onto an Interstate.

Of course my cars are slugs compared to my BMW R1150RT motorcycle, which has 95 hp and only weighs around 600 lbs. And that bike is not noted for being particularly fast among bikes.

I can pass vehicles while riding the bike that I wouldn't dream of passing in any car.

If you want really hard acceleration, and good fuel economy (my bike gets 50 mpg) you can't beat a motorcycle.
