Default A Real "GreenHybrid" at Texas St Fair?

Just got back from the Texas State Fair - biggest in the US and biggest car show in the SouthWest.

Check out > http://www.spencerthelion.com/images/greenhybridGM.jpg

Is this really a "greenhybrid"?

I'll let you answer first.

Very true, but I'm hinting at what's under the hood of the GM Silverado....

Sadly it's a typical marketing / PR gimmick. If they really wanted to make a difference it would be standard equipment on those trucks, and not called 'hybrid'. In fact I'd really applaud and cheer if they would put that kind of auto stop function on all their vehicles as standard equipment, to me that would show some real effort on their part to deal with the lack of FE vehicles, but again... probably far too much to expect from a company that seems to be trying to sink itself.

Delta;

Is that the so called "Mild Hybrid", in which a tiny (compared to the ICE powerplant) motor starter is attached. Which gives you something like a 3% "improvement" in gas milage?

I want to puke. And it will be green.

Mild may be too strong a word.

Weak hybrid would be my choice, but really it doesn't deserve to be called a hybrid at all because it doesn't actually use the motor to propel the vehicle at any point. Most companies coming out with auto stop features aren't calling it hybrid.

You could actually say dubbing the Silverado a hybrid as deceptive advertising - serious.

Default Another Observation at the Texas St Fair....

The Hummer's were less prominent. Two years ago, at least three radio stations had H2's at the fair.

I don't know why, but the Lexus rx400h did not broadcast it was a hybrid, yet it's light-years ahead of that wanna-be GM Silverado. I guess that just shows that pretenders are a lot louder than the real deal.

GM has nothing else to offer, so it's no wonder they hype their only innovative technology way beyond what it deserves.
