In the so called civilized world, we are supposed to be beyond the "pecking order" thing on the roads...I honestly think some people don't buy a car the size of a Prius or Civic out of a need to be feared and respected.

Hey, I drive in the carpool to work everyday and cars swerve in front of me when traffic comes to a stall in their lane. I also had someone cut in front of me at the last second at a red light. I hit my brakes so hard the car resonated as if the front hit the ground.

My biggest complaint. The police are not ticketing for bad driving. If people had to pay for their bad behavior, they would stop doing it. PERIOD.

I really like the "carpoon". Now, just connect the 12v to a step-up transformer, say 75KV and just "kiss" the offending car and watch the computer/electronics stall them out.

My only concern: will installing this invalidate the warranty to the IMA battery pack that was replaced today?

Angry Re: RIP: Considerate Driving

Hello;

Just to let everyone know. It's No-Different here in Nashville, Tn. If you drive on the interstate at say 70-75 MPH. Guess what? That's right they will tail gate you like you were driving 55 MPH. I have driven 80 MPH before just to see what people would do. Thats right pass you and tail gate just like before. Conclusion, I drive in the right lane and at 65-70 MPH W/Cruise and if they want to follow me all the way to where I am going. Thats just fine.

The drivers are just a joke with the cell phone in one hand and doing whatever with the other hand. Mainly not paying any attention to what their doing as far as driving.

That's my 2-Cents.

Terry

You know this is becoming a wide problem area. People just can't drive I don't know if they are not being taught the same as we were or that they just forget/don't care.. I had a 25yr old woman on a cell phone try and restyle the aerodynamics of my issued vehicle.. The turn arrow came on for left only she was in the straight lane I got to her lane when she blasted through the intersection .. I blasted the air horn didn't phase her, I had to educate her the olny way I could $141.50, failure to obey a traffic control device she cried and said she was sorry, she did not see me. I asked her to press hard so that her signature would pass through all five copies & to have a safe day....

Will she do it again? yeppers! I think they should ban cell phone use, unless your using hands free... (ahh maybe one day it will happen)..

We get plenty of traffic crashes do to people trying to make the light or mostly not paying attention...

I know of another officer that was cruising through a nieghborhood and was going 20 in a 25 and he had a teen pass him on a dbl yellow and wave with one finger because he was driving so slow.. LOL you know that didn't end well.... (no seat belt, passing in a no passing zone, not smart & no respect for others)..
**********************************
Other news to note I was sitting at a traffic light five cars behind an insight poor guy had the windows down and a big dumpall truck pulled away from the light and just covered the poor guy with black smoke. I felt bad for him as the exaust pipe looked like it was even with the window.. yuck!

P.S. They need to remember Driving is a privilege not a right.

Some people can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time but many can not. I wouldn't mind the taking if the cell user in question was also paying attention but lets face it they are not! I even have a problem with hands free because your attention is still distracted. You number one job while on the road is to drive. You can talk when you get home.

I have a theory behind this kind of behavior. I think most of it has come about because people believe there is a certain amount of anonanimity while driving down the free in your car. As with this individual who gave you the bird. There were no real repercussions for his actions. 99% of the people who do this would never even dream of acting this way in a face to face confrontation. The fact that they can behave this way in a car traveling 60 mph and the chances that they will get confronted are slim.

It's similar to the email syndrome at work. I can't count the number of times I have sat in meetings with people who will sit there and agree with everything that is said and then fire off some berating email disagreeing with the outcome of the meeting. Rather than speak their mind in a meeting where they will be challenged, they do it incognito where they won't be confronted. On top of that, I have had several occasion where you go back to that person to try and understand why they didn't express their concerns in the meeting and they can't really give an answer.

I can recall one event, when I lived in Denver I was driving on a major city street (Wadsworth) at a realitvely good clip in the center lane. I was closing a vehicle on my right rather quickly, but I guess 10 over wasn't fast enough for the guy behind me. So he shots around me on the right and then shoots the fast closing gap between me and the car I am passing. Then he decides to show me tweety. No big deal, I just blew him a kiss and went about my business. Well it just so happens we get to the next red light and we are side by side, and this guy just start ripping me. Tells me how is gonna Rape me and **** down my throat, etc. etc. After a few brief insults I finally had enough so I (I know it was a bad move but so be it) to get of my car and we were gonna just find out who was gonna do what. The most hilarious thing happens. The guy locks his door, rolls up his window, then gets on his cell to call the cops. I just laughed my butt off. Here he was just tearing me down, but when he had the opportunity to make good on his promise, he pees all over himself. From what I figure as long as he thought he could get away with his behavior and remain anonymous it was just find. But as soon as the opportunity presented itself to address the situation face to face, he wanted nothing to do with it.

Exactly!! One thing I LOVED about Germany when I lived there. If you were stupid, you paid. Plenty of cops, cameras and everything else to keep everyone "in check".

Right. Some people can drive just fine with a divided attention and some cannot. I haven't had a car accident in over 15 years, and yet I can talk on the phone or compose an email while driving. The one's who bug me are the folk who *can't* and do so anyway.

Personally, I think there should be more than 3 classes of licenses (C "car", M "motorcycle", and CDL "commercial-grade driving license").

A T-class license for heavy trucks (Dodge RAM or larger, but still having only four wheels).

A S-class license for SUVs and long station wagons.

This wouldn't be initiated for punitive reasons. But I firmly believe that there's a *different* driving strategy to optimize FE and safety, when comparing a Ford Focus to a Toyota Highlander.

Hope is like a candle held against the night.
