Default Road noise questions

I have an extremely long commute, and am looking to buy at hydrid or other high MPG car. I need to use my driving time to make business calls, so I'm looking for a recommendation for a car with an extremely quiet cabin at highway speed. Luxury is not required, but quiet would be.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, as would any link to an article that documents to specific decibel levels of various models.

Thanks!

Audi, Merc, or BMW. pick one, any car.

Or if you want to sound proof your car with dynamat, that does wonders. Expensive stuff but it pretty much removes all road noise.

If you want less wind noise at highway speeds and you still want a hybrid then consider those hybrids with the best drag coeficients (the HCH-II and the Prius).
The 06 and 07 Civic hybrids are very competent highway cars that run on extemely high CVT ratios, so you'll get minimum engine noise as well. You do get rolling noise but even that can be easily mitigated.

The Camry Hybrid is also great highway vehicle that is well worth a good look.

I afraid the HCHII isn't exactly the quietest of cars with respect to road noise. Even with tires set to 35 psi (factory spec) it is noticeably louder than the Accord Hybrid that I did a test swap in a parking lot.

Although there are more efficient vehicles, hybrid and non-hybrid, my 2006 HAH is the quietest vehicle on the highway I have ever experienced. This comparison includes lots of time in several "luxury" makes and models. I cannot hear the engine or drivetrain while crusing at 75mph. Only minor tire noise and wind is present.

Lack of road noise was the main reason I bought the hybrid rather than the 4 cylinder model which would otherwise give roughly the same economy - for $3k less.

For me here in Wyoming with lots of highspeed driving and also lots of mountains, the mix of economy (28-32 in town 35-42 highway), power (fun to pass quickly even on uphill grades) and comfort, make it the ideal on-road vehicle.
