I agree with Delta, I have 4 cats from Kitty Angels, all dumpster cats because their prior owners where incompetent tools not worthy of the human race.

livvie,

You are to be highly commended for providing a good home for these cats. Often they are at least as healthy as many purebreds and often look like they might be purebreds.

Here is a pound cat - Mewdonna (yes, her name is self-documenting )

.

61.5mpg lifetime - 82mpg in recent months

Always avoid larger dogs. Can cause damage to the vehicle.
Unless you plan on eating the cat as food or the cat poses a threat to you, it is not fitting for someone made in the image and likeness of God to kill it. These are God's creatures. To kill them simply because you think that there are too many of them is wrong.

Besides, if the number of cats decreased, the rodent population would increase. Heck, the two of them plotted on the same graph resemble multiples of sine and cosine curves.

Domestic animals like cats, dogs, sheep, horses, whatever are the products of human design, bred (genetically modified) from the original. They are actually patentable in some cases.

Not all creatures, human designed or original version, are worth keeping. Few folks exhibit agnst over the eradication of smallpox for example. But in truth smallpox is equally an original product of creation as is the cat (original version). Likewwise, I will lose no sleep in the dispatching of the occasional rodent - especially in the fall as they try to find a warm place to winter. Many other examples abound.

As you note, a reduction in the number of domestic cats is sure to affect in some way the population of mice, probably positive. That would be bad news. But it also would be a positive affect of the population of songbirds, by far the favorite prey of most felines in my neighborhood. (Note: other felines, the local mountain lions, like deer and loose pets in the Casper area but even they can't keep up with the population increase of both those groups.)

I still think you missed the point... go after the idiot owner who dumps the pet and causes the problem in your neighborhood instead of going after the pet who doesn't know any better other than to survive. A reduction in the number of careless pet owners will have a greater impact on the environment. I have no problem giving out stiffer penalties or jail time for such crimes.

I'm right there with you Livvie .. and Delta. Stupid people cause most of these problems. If Michael Vick is guilty, I hope he is made an example of. The national attention would do us all some good. It's sad so many of us are still so close to barbarian in nature when it comes to animals.
If you believe the Good Book (and even if you don't) - Yes, God gave us dominion over the animals. That's DOMINION, not abuse. There is no excuse for this behavior.
