In the morning when I choose between Diet Dr Pepper and Diet Coke, I choose the one that does not have an H3 promotional. I'd think it would be politically incorrect to do such promotionals, but if a large part of the general population still drools over Hummers, it's a sad commentary about America...

So what did you all put for your sign? Mine was:

"Because we weren't a bad enough influence on your kids already"

And that IS sad... I drove those things for far too long in the military. Most uncomfortable vehicle on the planet. But ya know, if you are a really crappy driver, maybe driving a tank is your only option for safety.

I have a theory that explains some (but not all of this).

When I first entered a Wal-Mart 20 years ago, it was crowded and people were bumping into each other, often because they tuned out others. Over the same period of time, traffic has far outpaced road construction. Just like Wal-Mart, you have more drivers that have more distraction and frustration. The logical way of dealing with this is to be more alert and avoid peak traffic more often. Instead, a lot of people figure they can eschew better manners by getting bigger vehicles. It's this mentality that may start in grade school that "if I'm big enough" people just get outta my way.

Again, I'm offering this as a factor, not as a catch-all.
