I never wanted one, so I've never priced them: Suburbans. There is a Chevy dealer next to the train station I go to every day. I saw an 'End of Year Clearance' sticker on a 06 Suburban. $60,000, marked down $14,000, available today for the low low price of $46,000. That, and the '14/18 MPG' sticker really surprised me:
$60,000 is a lot of money. It's $17,000 more than the median US household income for 2003 of $43,000.

Not accounting for taxes, title, blah blah blah, it would take a median household about 17 months to pay for that car and nothing else.
$14,000 is a huge discount. It's 23% off. I understand Chevy rarely if ever sells a car for it's sticker price, but it's still a large chunk of change not going to GM's pockets. Just how much is GM making on this thing anyway?
$46,000 is approaching four times the cost of my Dodge Neon, and $17,000 more than I spent on a TCH which gets more than twice the gas milage on a bad day.
Silly me: I didn't realize just how much money these things cost.
