This is not exactly new news, but seeing no thread in here about it, i warrant it is acceptable to display
I remember reading in Automobile Magazine back in 2002 that Subaru was making plans to release a hybrid model by 2006, which is obviously not going to happen. Following up on this, I found that Subaru (under its parent company Fuji Heavy Industries (FNI)) is actually jointly working with NEC to develop a magnesium lithium-ion battery, somewhat different from the nickel metal hydride batteries used in the civic hybrid, insight, and prius I and II. The battery promises lighter weight, higher power density, and lower heat generation. Read about it
