Default suffering from Prius envy

I am 18 days away from taking delivery on my Prius, and I'm going a little nuts. I search parking lots and roads in hopes of spotting one and get overly excited anytime I do. I've counted three so far in the 6-story parking garage I park in. If I'm lucky enough to see one in a parking lot where I have already stopped, I walk as close as I dare (too close, I'm sure) and linger as long as I dare, hoping the owner will come out. I make up stories about the owner based on color choice. I'm visiting forums at least once a day (I have managed to resist logging in at work thus far). I'm reading everything I can get my hands on, but it just isn't enough. Anybody got any ideas for a better way to pass the time?

1.) You're a weirdo!

2.) You're a weirdo!

3.) You get the point...

Actually, few things are as exciting as getting a new car so I can kinda relate. But the last time I got THAT excited I was dating a hot blonde.

So, I still think you might be a bit off.

Good luck with the Prius!

I don't think you're crazy - I saw a woman driving an FEH and waved her down in the parking lot just to ask her what kind of mpg she was getting. I think she thought I was stalking her!
Since then (5 months ago) I've only seen one other non-comercial FEH in Houston - HOWEVER, there is a private security company that has a fleet of them here (I flagged one of them down, too).
You're going to have so much fun when you get your Prius.
Enjoy the heck out of it and let us know about your experiences.

This will be my 7th vehicle, and aside from my first (a used VW Beetle that the floor board fell out of not long after purchase), I've never been this excited about a car. But I do agree I might be a little over the edge.

You might read up on what 'skeptics' have claimed. After you start driving the car, you will run into a number of busy-bodies who are quite willing to repeat stuff they'd 'read' or 'heard about.' Our Journalism forum has a number of these stories and the facts and data to reply.

The other technique I use is to have the skeptics try the car.

Actually, I have a colleague of mine that is also waiting on his Prius II. According to him, he's been waiting for several weeks already and he just can't stand it. A week or so ago, he learned that there's this guy on the 6th floor working in the same company that drives a hybrid (ME ) and he's made a point of introducing himself. Since then, he's come to my office several times to talk about how many Prius II taxis he has counted on the city streets. By now, I would hope he spotted enough since we really have many on our streets, but he's far from done or even tired.

Besides, to some extent we can all identify with this feeling. A vehicle of this type is far more than a car. To many of us - especially those who have owned other vehicles - it represents a shift in our status as everyday drivers to something we hope is better for ourselves and the world around us. Not every car can deliver on this premise.

Your new vehicle is well worth the wait. Let us know what you think of it when you finally get it.

Cheers;

MSantos

Congratulations
I impatiently waited a full six months from order to delivery time for my Prius. And it is worth it.
