Sounds like a good idea. Too bad GreenHybrid cannot make one ... but could start out with an online mag (ezine?). We have enough people with technical knowledge and even more with opinions . We also have enough members to get a lot of information on different subjects with just the mention of something. I find this to be one of the most informative sites I have ever been to with the database, articles, and those who link out to other sites. There are already hypermiler runs, and to make it even more accurate, better comparison, get some members with the non-hybrid versions or comparison cars. Corolla vs. Prius. EX vs HCH, generation battles, cross-platform competitions, etc. so much potential in so many ways/areas. And if collaborated with the other Hybrid sites such as InsightCentral, PriusChat, etc. it would be an even better well-rounded information superstructure. Best part about it is in general we are not biased. We all support all hybrids even if we have a personal preference.

Anyone know any publishers and advertisers/sponsors who would want to jump in on it? Wish I had the $$$ to invest in it.

In the information age, is print the best way to reach people anymore? I had several car magazine subscriptions until recently. I let them all lapse but I still get all the information I need off the net and forums and such.

I also let them lapse because I got tired of reading all the anti-hybrid/EV/alternative transport articles by editors who seem to be deluding themselves into thinking that our national energy predicament doesn't really exist and everything is perfectly fine and it's OK to have a 15 mpg sportscar or 9-passenger SUV as a daily driver.

I still like Vettes and Porsches and I could even see a small SUV like a Honda CRV or Element parked in my driveway in the future to help with transporting bicycles or scuba gear. But not for my workday commute.

Come on - don't you want to one day go by the magazine rack and see a cover of a NASCAR Civic hybrid graced by a bikini-clad woman in stilts?

There are still many people who don't access the Internet, or don't have broadband access, so print is still a viable medium. A dual approach may be the way to go. Numerous publishers use this approach successfully, Scientific American, Popular Science, Consumer Reports, and many many others.

It might be a little early for a hybrid only magazine, maybe not. But why limit the scope to hybrids as the modern connotation implies, gas-electric ala Prius, HCH etc. Open it up to all the alternatives to current petroleum based ICE vehicles. Doing so may yield larger more viable readership/subscriber base, as well as a larger community of content providers.

To broaden its appeal, and therefore its chances of success, the magazine should include ALL alternatives including: Diesel, bio-diesel, pure EV, LNG, fuel cells, heck even solar power.

Have you checked out "Green Car Journal"? (see http://www.greencar.com/ ) Have not seen it on a newsstand, and some of its articles seem to be advertising, but it looks like a pretty good start...

I've thought about that before and even mentioned it to my wife. Why isn't there a hybrid car magazine? I know one room in the house that doesn't get internet and there's plenty of magazines to pass the time there.

I'm surprised a magazine such as "Mother Earth News" or one of those sorts of magazines hasn't picked up a "Hybrid Car" section that's maybe 2-4 pages long.

Perhaps it is time, but unless we either band together, or someone else is willing to fund it, it doesn't seem likely to happen, at least not until hybrids go more mainstream.

It would be a pretty sweet job, IMHO, to be a writer for it...
