They did a hybrid vehicle spread maybe two months ago. I didn't buy it; I flipped through it while my wife was shopping.

It is a pretty nice magazine. It only comes out in print every quarter, and it's in very limited circulation (it came through the mail in a big envelope). Otherwise, the two issues I have recieved seem worth it to me. The winter 2005 issue sitting right in front of me has about 50 pages and a wide variety of articles. Jetta TDI, Highlander Hybrid, Mild Hybrids, Hydrogen cars, and much more make for a well-rounded magazine. The only downside is the price. I got it as a gift, but heard that it was pretty expensive.

Re: Time For A Hybrid Magazine
$19.95 isn't high for a magazine. But since this one is quarterly...
FWIW, it started out as an annual magazine. With more and more hybid information coming out, it shouldn't be too long until they can offer a monthly issue.
For those attending the meet in Phoenix. I can bring my two issues along for anyone what wants to look through them to make a subscription decision. Let me know.

Re: Time For A Hybrid Magazine
A magazine with Hybrid news and information defeats the whole mission of what we are trying to accomplish here! What are you all thinking?
It is already a known fact that hybrid owners are on the upper intelligence scale - the majority already own computers. The 1% who don't are too friggin cheap or are scared of technology - but then they wouldn't own a Prius now would they? Why bring down trees to spread the word about vehicles that are saving the earth by emitting less toxic fumes and consuming less petrol???? It's almost hypocritical.....no wait, take "almost" out of that sentence.
Here's my take on one thing....anyone who owns a computer, but still gets the newspaper every morning needs a good ***** slap.

This Might Get Me in Trouble
To satire the car magazines, why not have the GH homepage a picture of a bikini-clad woman presenting a hybrid? I know it's politically incorrect, but too many of the mainstream public guys can't think about a vehicle without also thinking about power and sex.
If I ever organize a hybrid get together, I'd love to entice a young woman to do it - she might be the first hybrid babe.

Re: Time For A Hybrid Magazine
Strong words from Eustis, a place I wouldn't except to see hybrid drivers. Y'all still banning satan from the city limits? I kind of agree with you -- but I kind of don't at the same time. For one thing, I subscribe to Green Car Journal. It's a good start. I don't think it's arrived yet, but with time it should. I don't think it's a waste of paper, and I don't think we're ready to live in a paperless world yet. I've been passing my old copies along to car guys who recognize that the G35s and 5 series BMWs they're driving aren't as consistent with their politics as getting 50 mpg might be.
Not all of my information comes to me electronically. I usually read green car journal on fights. I could sit around looking at my blackberry on an airplane... oh wait, no I can't because it's a wireless device. Or I could save webpages for viewing on a plane... but I wouldn't be able to read them for 20 minutes or so before taking off or 20 minutes or so before landing. That's 40 minutes of my life that might be wasted reading Sky Mall, the NYTimes, or the torture I put myself through reading Celebrated Living, and the Wall Street Journal and other crappy publications I read on my flight from Boston to DFW yesterday because I ran out of work I had with me to finish.
And while the substance of the magazine barely covers those 40 minutes or so of no computer time -- and thus I'll always have a book or something else with me (read: work), it's a whole lot better than most magazines.
My intent is to support green car journal to the point where it gains enough of a circulation to warrant distribution at Barnes and Noble and Borders and places like that. Because that will, in turn, increase awareness. And kill trees. But unlike petroleum, trees are a renewable resource.
I'm tired and shouldn't be typing because guess what? I get to fly to DC on Sunday, and there's a whole, whole lot of work to do between now and then.
And besides, it's not just hybrids, it focuses on clean diesel, E85, B100, fuel cells and other developments that keep me abreast of what the future might hold.

I will remind you that not only is paper renewable and easily recycled, and a lot of circulations use recycled paper (100%) ... but you don't need trees, you can use other sources like what was used for our constitution (in the u.s.a.) Not to metion, all the electricity being used to make the internet possible, the servers, your access points, the individual pc's ... And this electronic equipment is a lot less biodegradable and much more toxic and the turnover rate of computer equipment is much higher than a book. Also, paper is permanant unless you destroy it. Hackers and ill-minded people could change the digital data much easier or wipe it out. I have never noticed a virus eat up the words in a book. I don't want to get into the other aspects of it because I don't want to start a debate that would get way off topic so I will get back to some relevance...
I think both a print and a online circulation would be best. I also feel that if you have the print version of something it should give you free access to the online version. And yes all alternative, renewable power resources for personal transportation should be included. Fuel cells, Biodiesels, etc. I think it would sell more than one would think. I believe the curiosity is out there and people want a source of information to absorb. I would love to know all about the prototypes, concepts, future tech, etc. as well as the hybrids and alternative fuels.

Lol.
I like the idea of a magazine. There's something about leaning back in the recliner and relaxing with a magazine (or relaxing in other places... ). Yeah, wireless laptops get you there, but there's something nice about light, portable, etc. Not to mention I can't balance a laptop on my lap to save my life.
Print it on recycled paper! I'd subscribe...

Re: Time For A Hybrid Magazine
Okay - I'll withdraw my opposition and yield to the idea of printed paper. I didn't realize it's potential for such a target audience. But like Tim says "Print it on recycled paper! I'd subscribe..." That would be the catch. My intial post was not thought out - and I've been known to say what's on my mind at the given moment without being PC or pandering.
Yes, here in Eustis, we try to keep all those persons claiming to be Satan at bay. You gotta wonder where these people come from.
Believe it or not, there are many hybrid owners here. I see so many of them everyday that I've lost track. This City is very environmentally friendly...being tree city USA, etc. Even on the homepage of the City website ( www.eustis.org), you can see a section on resources (water, trees, energy, etc.) That is my brainchild and work of art!
I'm all for the Hybrid Babe idea - that would probably be the only reason I'd get a hard copy of such a mag. Sure, it's not PC but what would sell better than some scantily clad young lady sprawled across the hood of an Insight?
