Picked up my 2005 FEH AWD in PA in early February. Now getting just over 30 mpg in all city driving. Nearly double what I was getting from my 2002 Tribute 6 cyl in basically the exact same vehicle for functionality, performance and comfort.

I picked up a slick scan tool from Aeroforce Technology Inc. that helps a lot showing parameters the NAV system and assist gauge just don't tell you.

Any others using any after market tools to better your mileage?

After reading about 'em here on greenhybrid, I bought a ScanGaugeII for my 2000 conventional Ford Explorer. Guided by its mpg readout, I've been able to bump up a stubborn 16 mpg to more like 19.5 -- good for about $450/yr at $4/gallon.

Yeah Benton, and what did you pay for it, like $200. It paid for itself in less than a year.

Now you need to upgrade to a hybrid

~$170. I'm figuring under five months for payback.

The Explorer is the wife's hand-me-down. She got the RXh.
