Re: Top Ten Driving Peeves
#3 and #5 really get to me. #10 is just entertaining. Once, when I saw a guy do this for several miles going west on I-10 I turned my turn signal on too to try to get his attention. Then I noticed someone else do it too(try to signal the oblivious driver). Before long there were about 5 of us, plus the original driver, all with our blinkers on going west on I-10. The original driver finally noticed and turned their signal off.
Regarding #3, I don't get into the left lane unless passing or going AT LEAST 5 mph over the speed limit. I try to limit my time in that lane. What does really get to me is the tailgaters who feel I am not close enough to the car in front of me when I am in the left lane. I compromise my FE and accelerate/brake a little more aggressively while in the left lane, but still have the a--holes who feel the need to crawl up my bumper to the point that their headlights are no longer visible in my rearview mirror. Although I hate to admit it, on occasion I have removed my foot from the accelerator quickly, put on my turn signal and waited for a place to open so I could get over into the right lane. They get their way (I am no longer blocking them in traffic), then go on to crawl up the next guy's tailpipe.

#1, 3, 4, and 7 for me. I'm never in the fast lane, so #2 doesn't get to me. I'm surprised #7 is so low. There's an element of real danger with road-ragers that's different from say 1 or 3. The others might bring you harm because of their self-involvement. Road-ragers may bring you harm because they are, by definition, going out of their way to get you.

Re: Top Ten Driving Peeves
The one that gets to me the most is when another driver does something illegal, unsafe, or otherwise blatantly wrong and then directs all kinds of anger toward me because I was in the way, and especially if I had to honk in order not to be hit. One girl did this to me last Thursday. I had a green light and was about to make a left turn when she decided to cut me off by making the left in front of me. I simultaneously hit the brakes and hit the horn and we both came to a stop. She failed to yield but felt it was appropriate to take the time to flip me off and yell "**** you!" We were about to hold up traffic so I just put it in gear and took off with her following at a distance until I turned, at which point she honked at me again. She may have gestured but I wasn't paying attention to her at that point. I guess that borders on "road rage."

Re: Top Ten Driving Peeves
My peeves are drivers who ignore gaps 2-3 car lengths long while waiting to merge, holding up traffic nehind them, drivers who try to cut in front of me when I bypass em to merge (I'm behind them) and drivers who don't know how to use runabouts.

Gee, "Baby on Board" signs dropped off the Top 10 list. *sigh*
And nobody mentioned handicapped plates on a Mustang. (If you can get in and out of something that small, you're not handicapped!)

I would ammend #2 to say. Vehicles traveling in the passing lane who are not passing another vehicle.
This one gets to me. There is no such thing as a "fast" lane or slow lane. All lanes have the same speed limit. The left lane is for passing. I don't care how "fast" you are going. If you are not in the act of passing another vehicle get out of the passsing lane.

#3 and #5 bother me the most, and the offending party is almost *always* a SUV driver. I wish I could shoot a 144v jolt of pure IMA driving satisfaction at these dangerous fools.

Re: Top Ten Driving Peeves
The other week I had a doozy of driver on my busy commute home. A 3000GT sports car with a middle age guy driving. Thinks he's cool and zooms, weaving to get a few car lengths ahead. He drove like a maniac. No signals, pushing 100mph in my opinion. I stayed calm. Pulled back.. applied my caution flashers as I sensed something bad was about to happen. I'm glad I did.. i luckily prevented a major pileup, me included.
Fishtail, spinout, slams the rear bumper of a Ford F150 and comes to a stop in the median. I pull over. I'm a witness. Turns out he hit a Fireman.
Now here it gets more interesting. The guy acted strange. Hopped into his damaged 3000GT and guns it into the passing lane with oncoming traffic. I got his license plate #. He left the scene of an accident. Of course we had a statey pull up ~5 mins later.
Word is 40+ minutes later the guy was discovered wandering the roads not far away. Pulled over. Arrested for being under the influence. Quite notably drunk too from what the officer told me.
Here is the kicker. It wasn't his car. Possibly a girlfriend's. His excuse? He was on the way to a funeral. In a leather jacket and apparently not wearing clothes more commonly worn by funeral goers.
Looks like he didn't get home 5 minutes early like he had hoped. Is such idiocy worth it? I guess he thought so.
