LOL, thats what I was thinking. One of my cycling friends has a Topo program that will map a route ant tell various info on it, such as max grade, distance climbed, ect.

Check out USGS DEM's for now. The space shuttle flew the SRTM mission in 00 to map the world with Synthetic aperture radar. JPL does most of the prcessing and was going to release high resolution data over the US but that may have changed due to the security concerns. Have fun, Rick
