Quote:
Toyota recalls nine models
TOKYO - Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE:TM) said Tuesday it is recalling more than 565,000 vehicles across nine models, including its popular Prius hybrid car, to replace faulty parts that could cause drivers to lose control of the steering wheel.

On the plus side, they seem to have caught it in time to avert injuries, if they're being upfront about it:

Quote:
The recall follows more than 30 complaints filed with Toyota since March 2004, the carmaker said. The company wasn't aware of any accidents attributed to the faulty parts, it added.
I wonder what the 30 people were complaining about if they didn't get into any accidents.

Generally , Toyota isnt known for its recalls. I guess i lucked out that the Highlander isnt in that group.

I hope that it turns out to be minor recalls and everything is ok.

Cool Re: Toyota recalls nine models (incl. Prius)

Curiously, it doesn't appear to include the NHW11 Prius, the 01-03 models. Just the NHW20, 'Prius II" models.

I was struck by such an awkward statement for a press release, "...faulty parts that could cause drivers to lose control of the steering wheel."

Um, if you're holding on to the steering wheel, you never really loose control of it. Now a faulty part could cause you to loose control of the steering. However I'm fairly certain you'd never loose control of the wheel itself...

"loose control" really isn't too bad, but if you LOSE control, that's not good.
LOOSE= like a "loose cannon" or "let 'em loose."
lose is what you do in Las Vegas.
